Introducing the FEMTO DME Unlock service for BMW and Toyota GR Supra vehicles produced after June 2020. These models require a compatible DME ECU unlock before flash-based tuning can be performed, as traditional bench unlock methods are restricted on supported post-2020 DMEs. MTech Performance now performs this ECU unlocking service in-house at our Fort Lauderdale, Florida facility, eliminating the need to ship your ECU overseas to FEMTO in Finland.

Why Do You Need a FEMTO DME Unlock?

Unlock Process (Mail-In)

1. Purchase the Service: Order through our online store and review the shipping instructions for your order.
2. Prepare Your Vehicle: Activate BM3 or MHD before sending DME.
3. Ship the DME: Send ECU to MTech Performance in Fort Lauderdale FL, with our Mail-In Form inside the package Tap Here
4. Processing & Unlock: Your DME is unlocked in-house at MTech Performance. B58 and S58 ECU unlocks have a 1-business-day turnaround, while S68 ECU unlocks have a 3-business-day turnaround after receipt. Shipping transit time is not included.
5. Reinstall & Flash: Reinstall DME, test vehicle, and flash your custom map.

ECU Unlock Turnaround Times

MTech Performance performs BMW DME ECU unlocking in-house at our Fort Lauderdale, Florida facility. Processing times for supported engines are as follows:

• BMW B58 ECU Unlock: 1 business day.
• BMW S58 ECU Unlock: 1 business day.
• BMW S68 ECU Unlock: 3 business days.

Turnaround times begin once the ECU(s) are received at MTech Performance and exclude inbound and return shipping transit times. For B48, N63TU, S63TU, and other supported engines, please contact us to confirm processing times.

Important Considerations

• OTA Updates: Disable Over-The-Air updates in iDrive to avoid losing the tune.
• Tuning Licenses: BM3 sold separately.
• Remote Start: Optionally retained during unlock if selected (existing feature only).
• Shipping: Ship your ECU(s) directly to MTech Performance in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Unlocking is performed in-house without overseas shipment to FEMTO. Return shipping transit times vary by carrier and destination.
• V8 Engines (e.g. N63TU/S63TU/S68): Require dual DME unlock. Select correct quantity and ship both units.

FEMTO Re-Flash:

For FEMTO custom rom update.
This is applicable for anyone that has been Femto unlocked already and needs to send back their ECU for switching from MHD to bootmod Or from Femto to bootmod and vice versa. Also applicable when you already have bootmod before April 2025 and need to update for the new custom rom use and rev2 use.
