MTech Remote Tuning Service: Our Simple Guide

Remote tuning is a way to improve your car's performance via the internet. At MTech, we make this process easy, but there are a few things you need to know first.

    Requirements for Remote Tuning

    1. 4-Week Limit: You have four weeks from the purchase date to complete the tuning process.
    2. Be Ready: Don’t buy a tune if you’re still ordering parts or waiting for delivery.
    3. Timing Matters: Don’t purchase the tune if you’re about to go on vacation or won’t be available.
    4. Safe Location: Make sure you have a safe place for full throttle pulls or access to a dyno.
    5. Email Access: You need an email address to communicate with us.
    6. Computer Needed: You’ll need a Windows computer with internet access to transfer maps and logs to and from your car's ECU. (For BMW apps like Ecutek or Bootmod3, you can use a phone for datalogging and flash tuning.)
    7. Datalogs: It’s your job to safely send us datalogs from the street or a dyno.
    8. Dyno Rental: If you choose to use a dyno, it's your responsibility to rent one.

How the Remote Tuning Process Works

    1. Order Ahead: Purchase your tune from MTech about 5 days before you plan to install any parts. This ensures you’ll have a map ready for your modifications.
    2. Receive Your Base Map: We’ll email you a base map and instructions.
    3. Access the MTech Portal: (Mercedes-Benz) clients will create a unique username and password to log in to the MTech portal. This portal gives you access to all the files you need to flash your ECU, TCU, or CPC.
    4. Download and Flash: Use your laptop/computer to download the map from our portal and flash it to your vehicle.
    5. Perform Datalogs: Follow the instructions to gather datalogs, then upload them back to the portal.
    6. Analyze and Revise: We’ll look at your datalogs, make any necessary changes, and upload a new version to the portal for you to download.
    7. Repeat: This process might happen 5-10 times to get everything perfect.

    Purchasing Your Remote Tuning Session

    • Where to Buy: You can buy your tune directly from MTech's website.
    • Timing: Purchase the tune at least 5 days before installing parts to avoid any delays. Most of the time, maps are sent within 24 hours. However, if you order on a weekend, expect to receive your map by Monday or Wednesday.
    • Planning Ahead: (Custom Tunes) The goal is to have the map ready before installing new parts so you don’t end up with a car you can't drive. If you already have mods on your car, you don't need to remove them to start the tuning process.

How To Transfer & Flash Your ECU

    1. Download Software: Download the right tuning files for your make & model from the MTech portal and follow our guides.
    2. Connect Your Car: Use the cable supplied to you, to connect your laptop to the vehicle.
    3. Update Software: Make sure all software is up to date on your laptop.
    4. Download OEM Map: For (Mercedes-Benz), download the OEM map from your vehicle and upload it to the MTech portal.
    5. Flash the Map: Use the map file we provide on the MTech portal and flash it to your car.
    6. Datalogging: Follow the specific instructions to log data from your car. Start with idle logs, then move to cruising logs, and finally a full-throttle log.
    7. Upload Logs: Upload the logs to the MTech portal as instructed.
    8. Repeat: We’ll continue this process until your tune is perfect.
